Pemerintah Dukung Perkembangan E-Sports Indonesia Usai Prestasi Alter Ego

Ruang Press - RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – An Indonesian e-sports team, Alter Ego, has achieved a major milestone in the global Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) competition by finishing as runner-up. Recently, the government met with the team to express its support for Indonesia’s e-sports industry.

Alter Ego, representing Indonesia, advanced to the grand final of the M7 World Championship, a tournament organized by MLBB developer Moonton Games. The Jakarta-based team ultimately secured second place after facing Aurora from the Philippines at Gelora Bung Karno, Senayan, Jakarta, on Sunday, January 25, 2026.

Alter Ego’s achievement appears to have drawn the attention of the Indonesian government. Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka even invited the team to meet on Monday, 2 March 2026.

The Vice Presidential Secretariat stated that the meeting reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening the creative economy and accelerating digital transformation. According to the secretariat, this aligns with President Prabowo Subianto’s vision of developing high-quality human resources with global competitiveness.

"From this discussion, we talked about building e-sports to become bigger and more common in the public eye," Alter Ego coach, Kenny "Xepher" Deo conveyed.

According to Xepher, Indonesia’s e-sports ecosystem has now expanded into the education sector. Several schools have even integrated e-sports as an extracurricular activity, creating structured and sustainable opportunities for nurturing talent from an early age.

Xepher said his team was very happy to meet Gibran. According to him, the Vice President opened opportunities for collaboration to strengthen the ecosystem, enhance the development of professional athletes, and broaden the scouting of talented young players.

"As e-sports players, we’re very happy because the Vice President truly wants to support us in every aspect — whether it’s the ecosystem, professional players, or future pro-player prospects," he said.
